Why and how to do hair clarification?
We understand that before switching to natural hair cosmetics, it would be interesting to first do a hair detox or clarification. This will “reset” your hair by giving it back all its vitality. It will allow you to air your scalp and remove traces of old product residues such as silicones and other ingredients that conventional hair products may have left.
But how do you actually do a good hair clarification? In this article I will suggest a hair detox with white clay.
Why white clay? This beautiful, mineral-rich ingredient, also known as kaolin clay, is gentle and suitable for all hair types, including dry and damaged hair.
Here's how you can prepare and use a white clay hair mask for detoxification:
Ingredients needed:
- White clay
- Filtered water or hydrosol (floral water) for mixing
- Optional: essential oils, apple cider vinegar, honey, etc. for added benefits depending on your hair's needs.
Steps:
- 1. In a bowl, mix the clay with warm water to obtain a smooth paste, neither liquid nor compact. The amount of clay used varies depending on the length of your hair.
- 2. If desired, you can add a few drops of essential oils suited to your hair needs, apple cider vinegar to balance the pH, or honey for its moisturizing and soothing properties.
- 3. This clarification is applied to wet or damp hair. Apply the mixture generously to your hair and scalp, making sure to cover all areas. Massage gently to promote blood circulation and nutrient absorption.
- 4. Leave the mask on for about 10-15 minutes. Make sure not to let it dry completely as this could dry out your hair.
- 5. Rinse thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear. Be sure to remove any remaining clay.
- 6. After each hair clarification, always finish with a mask to hydrate your hair.
